Inspiration board: Winter Wonderland

If you’re having a winter wedding going with Christmas colours, such as red and gold, is the obvious choice. But personally I I think an all white winter wedding makes for a really stunning choice. Just throw in a bit of sparkle and cosy fluffiness and it becomes a winter wonderland wedding that is so very romantic!

Winter Wonderland

Here are a few of my ideas to help you achieve a Winter Wonderland wedding:

Stationery: Any winter motifs will wok perfectly; snowflakes, reindeer, Christmas trees. If you want something a little different how about sending out small boxes containing your wedding details attached to a Christmas tree bauble.

Bride: A splash of sparkle will suit this season and a cosy shrug for the shoulders is a must! Adding a crystal hair comb or tiara will also add to the the effect.

Bridesmaids: If you want to stick to all white then white bridesmaids dresses it is! For those brides worrying the attention will be averted from them, pick a simple shape and style of dress with less embellishments than yours. And little fluffy shrugs are only fair if you’re in Arctic conditions :)

Shoes: I love the shoes in the image! The fluffy feathers are perfect for a cosy touch to the wedding. If you can’t find shoes like this then buy plain white sandals and search for shoe clips to dress them up. Etsy have loads of them, such as these.

Flowers: I love the fluffiness of white peonies and those alone in a big bunch is extremely striking. Although, if you want a bit of variation adding metallic pine cones to your bunch is beautiful; an example can be seen in this post.

Groom/groomsmen: Metallic pine cones worked into the boutonnieres for the men would look fantastic too.

Decoration: Sparkle and white and light everywhere! I love the lit-up paper wreath from Martha Stewart; you can buy a similar woolly one here! Candles dotted around will add to the warm cosy atmosphere. White paint brushed pinecones look amazing especially under those glass domes. How about seeking out plastic deer and coating them in white glitter for wintery & wonderful table centres. Baubles could be strewn across the table as well as used for place holders.

Cake: This cake with its white chocolate pine cones is perfect. If you want something more casual go for cupcakes dusted with glitter or iced snowflakes popped on top.

Favours: A simple and fitting solution would be crackers. Or you could make hot chocolate favours. Gingerbread snowflakes dusted with icing sugar, as in the image, would be lovely and festive.

Food & drink: Mulled wine is a must! Or mulled Ribena for the non-drinkers! Mini mince pies and canapes featuring cranberry. You could serve a traditional roast dinner for the main meal with Christmas pudding for dessert or a baked Alaska could look cute!

Other ideas: A snow machine! :D

Inspiration Board: All White

A splash of bright, bold colour like in my last board is a great look for a contemporary wedding but there’s also something cool about going for no colour whatsoever. All white is pure and simple and definitely a brave choice but if done well it can look really bloomin’ beautiful…

All White

Here’s a few of my ideas to help you achieve an All White wedding:

Stationery: It’s rather hard to have a fully white invite for your All White day as the details will probably be too small to be blind embossed using letterpress printing. But the design and your names won’t be, so something like this is a striking way to keep your stationery in line with your ideas for your day.

Bride: I’m pretty sure you’ll have no trouble finding a white dress! Which one may take more time to decide on but an All White look would work with any. However, dresses that create simple silhouettes, rather than heavily embellished gowns, would be especially stunning if you wanted a sleek event.

Bridesmaids: Who says just the bride has to wear white? Bridesmaids can too! For a fresh summery wedding pick short dresses for your maids so you’ll still stand out if you’ve opted for the floor-length number. You’ll find loads of options on the high street coming up to summer!

Shoes: White. No other colour needed. I personally like the look of patent leather heels with a big patent bow! Make your own with Shoes of Prey.

Flowers: I love the image in the inspiration board. Any white flowers would work with an All White wedding but picking just one type and opting for a simple sculptural shape like the round bunch of roses is a great way to give your flowers that contemporary edge.

Groom/groomsmen: Whatever you pick for your flowers will work for the men’s boutonnieres. If you want to go all out their suits could be white too!

Decoration: The tablecentre in the image is a great example of how using several whites makes beautiful not boring. Using the white barked birch tree as a container and filling with white flowers looks amazing but any white vase would work. Crisp white tablecloths, white votive holders and white crockery completes this look.

Cake: For a stylish event such as this one you could pass on the cake and cupcakes and go for the newer trend of macaroons. I love the idea of a great big, completely white macaroon tower!

Favours: If you’re going for macaroons for your cake then macaroons could easily double up as the favours in a see-through box topped with a cute tag attached with twine. A cheaper option is those powdery bonbons which are inexpensive and easy but would still look pretty in a lil bag tied with a big bow.

Other ideas: If you really want to complete the All White wedding look then you could even ask your guests to wear white! It would look awesome on the photos!
