As I’ll be at a music festival when this post goes online I thought it fitting to do a post about tunes for your wedding.
Popular music
Taken from a poll of 1300 DJs, UK Disco found that the most common songs people pick for their first dance as newlyweds were:
- Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing Aerosmith
- Everything I Do (I Do It For You) Bryan Adams
- Amazed Lonestar
- You’re Still The One Shania Twain
- From This Moment Shania Twain
- Have I Told You Lately Van Morrison
- You’re Beautiful James Blunt
- Truly Madly Deeply Savage Garden
- Angels Robbie Williams
- I Will Always Love You Whitney Houston
I decided to see if I could find something a little different using what I have on my iTunes. And when it comes to picking a wedding song, unless it’s a song that reminds you of a time in your romance like the first date or what was playing in every bar on your first holiday, personally I would have to pick a song where the lyrics made sense to the event. So there was a lot of looking through lyrics to make sure the following songs were appropriate!
I did find a nifty gadget that let me embed the MP3s into my blog but then I realised that this would probably be breaking all kinds of copyright laws so I’m afraid it’s links to videos instead. But at least this way you get treated to several minutes of Canadian geese (#6) and a crazy amount of hair (#8)!
My kinda music
- Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
The sound of the ukelele makes this one perfect for a beach wedding. - Nothing Else Matters Metallica
- Lover Lay Down Dave Matthews Band
- One Year of Love Queen
- The Luckiest Ben Folds
- As Long As You Follow Fleetwood Mac
- Better Together Jack Johnson
- The Deeper the Love Whitesnake
The acoustic version of this may be more wedding-worthy. I love acoustic versions.
Eighties gold
And this final one is a favourite. Anybody that knows me will know I am a huge fan of Neighbours and I think I’d actually be tempted to have Suddenly by Angry Anderson at my wedding! This video is well worth a look. TV at its finest!
Hope you click on the links and enjoy listening to what I believe to be some great music!
