Magnificent Mariette

I have some fabulous hats & headpieces to share with you today! Louis Mariette is the man behind the creations. Growing up in Botswana & Swaziland, Louis spent hours exploring the colours of the flora & fauna, collecting bright bird feathers and semi precious stones that sparkled. His curiosity, love of colour and texture is channelled into his work today and the result are works of art that would dazzle on your big day…

A twist on the tiara these beautiful headbands would make an incredible accompaniment to your gorgeous gown:

Louis also creates the most incredible hats. Perhaps a little too over the top for your wedding day but I love them nonetheless. I love the styling of the shoots to suit the hat and find that images like this alone can provide inspiration for your big day…

Worn in wonderland

When I saw the following headpieces I had to feature them! They’re unlike anything I’ve seen and would be perfect for the bold bride daring to be different. Made by Zara Carpenter aka Chatham Girl in Kent, England they’re inspired by fantasy and fairytales and Alice in Wonderland-esque things…

There are beautiful oversized bows…

…flowers and feathers…

… the last being inspired by the bit in Alice in Wonderland when Alice discovers the Queen’s men painting the roses after they planted the wrong colour.

There are even hats featuring boats & beaches (love the lil’ hula girl in the tropical piece)…

And finally my absolute favourite…

Woodland wonderland

Please, please, please could a bride plan some magical woodland wonderland wedding, wear this hat and then send me the pictures? Would make me so happy!

Hats & headpieces

For as long as I can remember I’ve believed that going to a wedding as a guest meant buying a new hat. I think this probably came from Cilla Black mentioning it on pretty much every Blind Date show (I loved that show and wish they’d bring it back!)

Nowadays it doesn’t seem necessary to add a hat to your outfit, guests can take it or leave it (unless it’s requested on the invite). But if you fancy looking fancy then a special occasion such as a wedding is the perfect time to don a hat.

And of course I wouldn’t be talking about hats unless I’d found some lovely ones for you to look at!

Based in London, milliner Jane Taylor creates beautiful hats, headpieces, and fascinators embellished with pretty findings sourced throughout Britain. You can choose from one of the gorgeous pieces on offer or arrange for a consultation and have a hat custom-made just for you.

There are what I would deem more classic-looking hats:

Then there are these fab feathery creations:

Those adorned with ribbons & roses:

Or super-contemporary sculptural shapes:

And if you’re going for the wow-factor. One of these would do it!

Plenty of choice for the wedding guest.

Bridal bonce

But what if you’re the bride? Well Jane has that covered too with a range of stunning headpieces, headbands and decorative combs. Just take a look at this beautiful bunch:
