Posts featuring ‘decoration’

Party props!

Photo booths are pretty popular at weddings right now and if you’re after party props to pep up the pics then I’m rather fond of these card creations by Little Retreats. Of course props on a stick could definitely be a DIY project but if you’re not that neat at cutting and looking for quite intricate designs then let creative Brooke do the work for you…

Brooke also makes these beautiful birdcages and I love the idea of featuring these in your wedding day! You could hang them from trees or above your tables…

And then there are these fab banners which would make an ace alternative altar idea. Saying your vows with one of these in the background is going to look lovely on your wedding pics!

Delightful decorations

You may know by now I’m a big fan of the details. They’re what make your wedding stand out and show guests your style. One shop that stocks loads of lovely finds for adding the finishing touches to your big day is Cloth-Ears. This cottage industry started in 2007 when crafter Julie couldn’t find the products she was after for a cosy and nostalgic touch to her home. Cloth-Ears has since grown to employ more craftspeople and with the success of the handmade products in the shop Julie has been able to grow the business introducing some complimentary homewares.

There is so much on offer in this shop. Here’s a few ideas for defining your day…

Flying the flag

For a very British affair there are lots of products proudly displaying the Union Jack:

Remove the lid from that tea caddy and you have a quirky vase!

Or if you’re having a tea party there’s the bunting to go with it along with a lovely assortment of cake-stands for your scones, and pretty doilies for the table.

Beside the seaside

A seaside soiree would be superb with an array of the following goodies:

I just love the retro buckets, I think they’d look so sweet filled with flowers as tablecentres!

Vintage pretties

Any vintage day could be complemented with the following pretty pieces:

Say it with signs

And I love the signs; point out the toilet in style!

To stop you feeling disheartened after the big day’s over how about treating yourself to one of these perfect-for-honeymoon hold-alls to put your stuff in?!

Felted flowers

I love all things crafty and am always on Etsy adoring so much amazing stuff. Now, when I browse, I keep an eye out for crafted pieces that could work with your wedding. When I came across Jen’s wreaths, in her Etsy shop Itz Fitz, I instantly loved them! Crafted of colourful wool and adorned with cute felt flowers these would make an unusual but so sweet addition to your wedding. Pick colours to suit your day and then hang them on the church door or at the reception to mark your wedding. You can even carry on the crafty theme inside with felt napkin rings!

Crochet is cool

I remember the days when crochet was seen as a granny craft. My lovely grandma Betty always had several handmade crocheted quilts in her house (and one of them weird crocheted toilet roll covers with half a doll attached, but I don’t think she made that!) The quilts were made up of what crocheters call the Granny Square so even the terminology suggests it’s not for the young and contemporary crafters!

But with craft becoming hugely popular in the last few years loads of people have taken up crochet and modernised it. Now, crochet is cool!

And to prove it I’ve found some gorgeous pieces from Edinburgh-based crocheter Emma Lamb.

A crafty wedding

For the bride that has a love of craft, and wants to show this in her wedding, I believe these crocheted flower garlands would be a perfect addition to her wedding:

And although this is actually intended as a pin cushion I can easily see two rings nestled in the centre for the ring bearer to carry:

So cute!

And if you’re not having a huge wedding then you may be able to factor these gorgeous hand-embroidered cards into your budget for invitations or thank you cards:

You could even go as far as to have a crocheted rug to say your vows on!

Emma makes some lovely cushions and pot holders too so even without a wedding on the horizon her shop is well worth a look to see what cute crocheted goodies you could buy for your home.
