What gorgeous grub would you like to be served/or serve up at a wedding?

@AmourOccasions I think it depends on the style of the wedding if I was at a sea side style wedding fish n chips would be great & in keeping!

@hattherapy I would opt for tiffin lunch or dim sum or bits and bobs style. Here’s a little info on a tiffin lunch.

@beyondbeyond365 3 courses and a truckload of canapes, I’m the greedy guest everyone fears!

@M_M_Weddings Tough choice! Prob 3 course then fish n chips as evening buffet.

@JonKeithDiamond I would say hearty 3 course meal good old English food :-)

@HephzibahBride As much as I love fish & chips, it’s gotta be a 3 course meal!

@Zankyou_UK In winter B&B pudding wins hands down… in summer, fresh fruit and meringue with cream! For main, again depends on season. We had lamb in Feb, but I like fish in the summer. Did I mention I would have a tapas if I did it all over again! ;)

@bridesupnorth I’ll have some personalised cake pops from @popcakekitchen or Popits Cake Pops – yummy!

@ffotogirl My boyfriend went to a wedding that served a four course Indian veggie meal AND a buffet! That sounds like heaven to me :)

@finefunkyevents Definitely mini food, especially mini comfort food, mini fish and chips in cones, I love the american cocktail hours!

@bertpalmer I love a bacon, avocado, manchego and roasted pinenut salad at a summer wedding. Then I’d have ice cream sellers for desert – like at the cinema. They could come around and you could choose… Mmmmm sumer.

@belleamour_uk I LOVE thinking about food! Love it! I’d definitely spend a good deal of time thinking about the food for my wedding! I’d need an amazing veggie option as I’m veggie but I don’t think I’d make the whole meal meat-free just to save having to listen to moaning meat-eaters ;) For summer I fancy a picnic with individual hampers per guests. And for winter I love the idea of a proper pizza oven, and a big table where you can create your own topping… mmmmm. Tapas is also a fab idea!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this feature but I’m afraid that’s the last one. It may return in future but as I begin to make a few changes to my life I’m starting to have a little less time and have to cut back on the blogging a bit :(

Hope you have a relaxing Sunday planned :)

What is your favourite colour scheme for a wedding?

@MissLouPops We’re having dark purple & gold similar to this blog post. I think it’s so pretty! :)

@weddingsparrow Greys, whites, greens and a little sprig of purple ;)

@fionahumberston Pantone colour of the year is Honeysuckle – very traditional for a wedding.

Pantone Honeysuckle

@lilyboxdesign I love an ombre effect.

@makemydayuk PINK!

@knotsandkisses I’m loving purple and brown right now… but classically you can’t beat Powder Blue & Cream.

@SweetDreamEvent Blush and nudes with soft greys. Soft colour palettes I am adoring.

Michelle Molyneux White and antique gold.

Nilla Canzano Antique white, gold and rich browns.

@Savoirweddings I am obsessed with teal and purple.

@YvonnePhoto Cream with chocolate & gold accent colours for a wedding, if I ever get married again.

@BlueLightsPhoto Black and hot pink, teal and orange, baby pink and green.

@FabulousTiaras I like pink and chocolate brown!

@Weadore Saw a great feature yesterday using Yellow and Black!

@JonKeithDiamond Still loving royal blue and white – which we had in 09. Looks classic! Also like nude bridesmaid dresses!

@adelinekeirle We’re going for navy and white with groom in brown suit and navy tie and bright yellow flowers everywhere! Daffs & tulips!

@belleamour_uk A colour scheme is a hard one, there isn’t a particular combo that stands out for me… I love yellow & grey, I love coral and teal, I love Josie’s suggestion of teal and purple, I love red & mint… I’ve created a couple of palettes I’d quite like below, one is a subdued version of a favourite combo of turquoise and hot pink with a hint of grey and the other is a more appealing version of the primary colours, I think having a really bright wedding palette like this one would be a lot of fun!

Palettes

(Hopefully they came out alright, no idea how to get colours right on screen…!)

Should the woman take the man’s name in marriage?

@kirstenmavric Well, I like my surname too much to change it ;) I would double-barrel it. Our son is Maximillian Mavric-Neal so it makes sense ;)

@beyondbeyond365 Hypen all the way my husband hates it, he thinks I’m being a ponce. But, then some people even make up a new surname!!!!

@whiteswanweddin Well when I got married 1st time I took his name, then 2nd time he took my name 3rd time I have both his and mine hyphenated.

@knotsandkisses I’d think it was an honour to take my OH’s name but perfectly respect those who don’t want to change.

@Cosmic_Sez I’ve decided to take his name but understand some would rather retain ‘their’ identity (even though given to them by dad!)

@VickiKPhoto I was very reluctant but only did it because I thought married name sounded better! Know one guy who took his wife’s name!

@CatYarnold I like that tradition but its a personal choice, we worked on a wedding and the groom took the bride’s name.

@amberanima I think that as long as it’s the woman’s choice, all options are acceptable. I double-barrelled & so did my husband. My view is that it’s not a very good foundation for marriage, if the name is non-negotiable. Oh and we’ve sparked a trend amongst our friends to joint double-barrel too. And it was my husband’s idea too :)

@eddietweet I do use my married surname but not professionally. It gets complicated though! I prefer my maiden name so kept it for work. We did think about going double barreled but decided we would have sounded like a Formula One team! There’s no hard feelings.

@62microbus Good podcast on this subject here.

@fionakellyphoto I changed my name but keep my pre-married name for work as was working first. Took me a while to adjust but like name change it can be a bit confusing from time to time but I like the link to the pre-married me as much as I like being Mrs now.

Ian Simpson The power of the hyphen…

@Carrie_Bugg I got the best of both worlds – keep my maiden name for my business Carrie Bugg Photography!

Nicolla Bishop Oh to me getting to use his name was the best thing ever, I liked my old name-and getting used to using the new one is harder than I imagined, but to me it’s so romantic to use his. All them years ago when I first heard his name and got butterflies..aww! and now I’m Mrs B!

Rebecca Simpson-Hargreaves I’m hyphenated as you know!

Thea Mistry I think it’s entirely the bride’s preference. I have 5 brothers so I wasn’t worried about carrying on my maiden name. Our names didn’t hyphenate well, and I wanted to have the same last name as my kids. Plus, I straight up like his last name and was proud to take it.

@kerrywebsta Definitely! I think it’s disrespectful if not! I think people just keep it these days so they get a fancy double barrell!

@Zankyou_UK I didn’t and I like still having my maiden name. It’s good to be able to choose, I think. Most of my mates changed :)

@belleamour_uk I personally don’t want to lose my name when I marry. It’s part of me and I’m proud of it. But I would like all my family to have the same names so me and the fella double-barrelling would be perfect! Perhaps I’ll vet boys I date in future to see if they’re up for double-barrelling before allowing the relationship to get serious, or do you think that may put them off? ;)

So what do you think? Is taking the man’s name old-fashioned or the right thing to do?

Next week’s question: what is your favourite colour scheme for a wedding?

It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow, the day that generally you love or hate according to your relationship status. And so, with lots of you due to be the recipient of a romantic gesture, I decided to ask…

What is the most romantic thing anybody’s ever done for you?

@SweetDreamEvent Proposed to me!!! and then married me!

@gemmaclarke It’s that good and so unique that I don’t want to share it with the world :) Let’s just say it involved a very protective bear :)

@knotsandkisses My OH arranged a surprise Alice in Wonderland themed party for my 30th.. he made flamingo croquet mallets & everything!

@Zankyou_UK Learn a language!

@alexbeadon For some reason I always think the smallest things are the most romantic – random acts of kindness etc… My boyfriend once came home with a single red rose for me, and I thought it was the sweetest thing ever :)

@kerrywebsta My boyfriend bought lots of tubes of Smarties and made me a whole tube of Blue Ones! (Before you could buy them like that!)

@MWWhispers Mine is my proposal story on my blog :)

@TheCraftyBeggar Left a club at 2am, walked 5 miles to say “you do matter”, he never left, 20 years, 3 kids, 2 grandbabies ago. I still matter.

@_han mine wrote it in unpaired socks on the bed…I loved it! :)

@Celine_Chaplin When I was just 17 a lovely boy wrote a whole sonnet for me… it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read! It still brings a tear to my eye that someone can be so beautiful with words…

@Aloha_Photo For crimbo I had a huge box with a voucher that said your present would be delivered in the new year and then i was taken out for the day unknowing to me that it was my surprise holiday. I had no clothes or anything, he opened the boot and there was a packed bag for me. V romantic.

@FO_Photography Adrian changed his surname by deed poll from Tan to Omotade-Tan before our wedding :)! It’s the gift that keeps on giving, especially as he’s an only child. It’s so romantic and always makes me smile when I think of the absolute glee my mum shouted with when we announced it at our engagement ceremony in front of 1000 guests :)

@EnchantedTiaras I inherited a ring from my grandma and couldn’t afford to have it re-sized so my boyf secretly had it done :) meant so much!

@EnchantdGetaway Surprise Seaside Lunch, complete with my favorite, fresh avocado and chips, personalized & ROMANTIC!

@bertpalmerUmmmm – hard Q. Probably daily messages of love on the kitchen chalk board.

@belleamour_uk I’ve definitely never been on the receiving end of a grand romantic gesture but something my boyfriend did almost a year ago made me smile. He’s a smoker of roll-up cigarettes and always has Rizlas to hand. One morning I went to put on my make-up and stuck in the centre of the mirror was a Rizla with ‘Love you babe x’ written on it. It was very sweet and very ‘him’. It’s still on my mirror now, just in the corner, I had to move it so I can still see where my make-up is going on my face :D

So what’s the most romantic thing anybody’s ever done for you? Please let us know in the comments box.

What is a favourite film you’re happy to share and a favourite film you’re embarrassed to say?

@fromwifetomama Happy to share – gran turino. Embarrassed to say -stardust.

@Midwaymediauk It has to be Bridget Jones’ Diary :-) Embarrassing most favourite would be Strictly Ballroom :-) There are so many favourites I have like Star Wars etc.

Nicolla Bishop My favourite film I’m happy to share is Kes it’s really meaningful and at times grim, but is also really funny and warm. I love the message that when times are grim you can find escape in any form. My favourite that I wouldn’t usually share is Barefoot in the Park, with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. It’s actually a great retro film, and is hilarious, but it reminds me a lot of me and my husband (me-loud and silly, him-quiet and sensible) and reminds me of the very real struggles opposite types face, but also why we love each other. That’s why I wouldn’t normally share it-because it’s kinda personal to me.

@knotsandkisses Ooh films is a difficult one… My fave films are Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Usual Suspects & Fight Club .. guilty pleasure Sweet Home Alabama!

@KrOuPs Wicker Park is a bit of hidden gem I’d say. Embarrassed to say: The Swan Princess – all of them.

@dominiquebader My favourite film of all time is Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. Greatest love story ever! Embarrassing – probably The Notebook although not embarrassed Haha! I’m a die hard romantic. oOher favs are Good Will Hunting and As Good As It Gets.

@Zankyou_UK Casablanca, no doubt! An embarrassing one? The Princess Bride, although actually i’m proud of that one too! ;)

@exhibitemotions You should watch Modigliani – so so beautiful! It’s hard to find, but it’s my favourite film ever

@jodiechapman A fave I’m happy to share “The Apartment”. A fave that’s embarrassing…”Baby Boom”! LOVE Diane Keaton.

@ShootBoutique Recent favs: Exit through the gift shop. Guilty pleasure; Elf (just seen at xmas-funny as hell!)

@aphrodites_wb A fave I’d share is Memento (Christopher Nolan and quite Inception-esque)… and an embarassing one would be Sound of Music!

@belleamour_uk My faves include many Oscar films… it’s my favourite time of year when all the big films vying for Oscar attention come out; I love working my way down the list! I saw both The King’s Speech and Black Swan this week (with a 15 minute break for a burger in between!) Although extremely different films I thoroughly enjoyed them both. The King’s Speech should be seen for its set design alone… the peeling paint in the therapy room is so beautiful! Next up to see is True Grit, the trailer looks amazing! A film I’m embarrassed of? 27 Dresses. I guess it figures with my love of weddings… but I’m ashamed to say I’ve seen it about 10 times and I never fail to cry at the end!

Black-Swan
King's-Speech

Please feel free to add your own film choices in the comments box!

Next week’s question: With it being Valentine’s day next Monday I’d like to know… What is the most romantic thing anybody’s ever done for you?
