The Wedluxe Wedding Show : Part 2

Whilst sorting through my photos from The Wedluxe Wedding Show I realised that, either there was so much amazing stuff to see there, or, I take way too many photos… it’s probably both ;) The result is not being able to pack all the pictures into one post so I’m bringing you some right here, right now… some more this afternoon… and another two posts tomorrow! I hope you enjoy looking at all these pics in all their prettiness :)

Guests entered the show through an arch of rose-heads hanging from ribbons created by 5th Element Events. It was beautiful…

Feathers & birds

I love inspiration shoots! They’re such a wonderful way to show brides ideas they may not have come across and they also wonderfully showcase the talent of many different wedding vendors. It’s all very well to see a beautiful invite on a stationery website, or a cake on a pedestal in a shop window, but to see it in a wedding setting gives you a much better idea of how it would look when incorporated into your day.

When Melanie of Cranberry Blue Weddings & Events sent me this fabulous “Feathers & Birds” shoot she’d styled I definitely wanted to share it with you. Here she is with the inspiration behind the images…

My background is originally in fashion so I like to look at the catwalks to see new trends coming through, and then use them as inspiration for styling weddings. This photo shoot was driven by feathers and birds, which is a strong fashion trend that is emerging for next Spring/Summer. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Jill Stuart and Carolina Herrera were amongst those who showed a variety of different bird prints at the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalk shows. Mulberry’s recent AW campaign featured owls and other birds but this also helped to shape the delicate but slightly off-beat colour palette of duck egg, grey and mauve.

Although birdcages have been popular in the past, I wanted the feathers and birds angle to have more of a contemporary edge to it. The model has been styled to look quite ethereal and the use of tall cylindrical glass vases and details such as feather button holes, laser cut stationery and the statement feather shrug I feel all work together to achieve this…

Feathers-&-florals

So do you fancy the feathers? Can you see these being big in weddings? I think they add a lovely romantic touch. I’m also loving the bride’s style! And the intricate stationery pieces by one of my favourite companies Cutture are so beautiful. Melanie did a fantastic job with this feather-filled shoot and I’m so delighted I got to share it :)

For the love of books…

Bookworm brides… how about pages for petals, a good book to nestle those rings in and novel folds as decor…
