Chalky boards

Chalkboards (or blackboards as I know them) seem to be popping up more and more in weddings. They’re fun as well as functional and can add a really creative touch to your big day. So, as I’m a fan of lots of inspiration in one place, I’ve done another round up of ways to have black boards and white chalk in your wedding day…

Chalkboards

  1. Have your picture taken with a chalkboard so you can express your love in many creative ways. The simple heart found in this wedding on Ruffled is a cute one.
  2. Take a chalkboard theme through to your invites with this sweet design from Paper + Cup.
  3. Hiring an artist such as the talented Dana Tanamachi would add an awesome piece of artwork to your wedding.
  4. Teeny chalkboards wear to round your neck?! Love them! You could even change these throughout your wedding day. Maybe from Miss to Mrs! Get yours at Haden Designs.
  5. Chalkboard hearts such as these found here dotted around as decor would add an fun touch. Let guests scribble on them too!
  6. You can paint chalkboards on almost anything and so items can become multi-purpose such as this planter for a table centre that is also a table number! This one’s from BHLDN but you could easily make your own.
  7. Miniature chalkboards as place names such as these captured by Elizabeth Messina found on Style Me Pretty are super sweet.

  9. Oooo now this map would be a cool feature. You could map on specific locations such as where you fell in love and where you got engaged or holidayed together. A fab feature for your house afterwards too! Buy it from Shop Dirtsa.
  10. You can even have a lil chalkboard on your cake topper if you get this Together Forever topper!
  11. An easy DIY project… just get chalkboard paint, jars and fill with fresh flowers then write whatever you want on them! Found on A Subtle Revelry.
  12. I love this idea from Design Sponge showing your guests exactly where they’re eating. Would work well with a buffet-style meal that the guests get themselves and then go to their seats. It would also look ace on the pictures!
  13. Chalkboard vinyl means you can even create a chalkboard in that wedding favourite… the embroidery hoop! Find out how over on Hostess with the Mostess.
  14. If you want to incorporate chalkboards into your wedding then one brilliant idea is in a photo booth. Photo booth props are great fun anyway but props that can be customised by your guests? Perfect! This pic’s from Hitched Chicago but you can buy these speech bubbles on Etsy or make your own.
  15. And finally a chalky idea with the wow factor. I love the idea of having a whole wall covered in chalkboard (the chalkboard vinyl would work as you could remove it from the venue afterwards) that you can create an entire scene on for a backdrop to your vows. It could be anything and would look so awesome! The image from Inspired by Charm is the outside of a house but you could have a skyline or love poems or tons and tons of doodled hearts…

Great inspiration piece Debs! Currently planning my Mum’s retirement party, and as she is a teacher, I think I may have to pinch a few of these ideas! :o)
