Yay for Wills & Kate!

The Royal Wedding has been talked about extensively, tons of documentaries have been made; even a film (which I imagine is rubbish), Wills & Kate’s gorgeous mugs have made it onto almost every object you can think of (including a fridge?!) and a lot of people are quite sick of it all. Well I am not one of them! I, of course, love weddings, am a hopeless romantic, was brought up on fairytales and can’t wait to watch the wedding today! I love that, for a change, we can get excited over an event rather than worry about the state of the country. And I will be partying with my fellow neighbours to celebrate!

Despite their future being a million miles away from ours I love that we can still relate to their relationship. The fact they had ‘a break’ to decide if they really wanted to be together and sensibly waited to get married. They look genuinely in love and I wish them a long and happy life together…

And for any of you having parties today I hope the weather’s wonderful and you all have an awesome time!

Inspiration board : Candy striped

I’m rather fond of red and white stripes. Reminiscent of carnivals these stripes scream fun! And they look really contemporary too. So here’s an inspiration board for you and there’s no need for me to give you lots of ideas with this one as it’s simple… red & white & stripes!

Silhouettes & s’mores

I’ve featured Lauren’s craftiness on the blog before in a post about the lovely rustic save the dates she created. Now I’d like to share with you some of the items in her Etsy shop. Lauren is perfect at creating those personalised details that really add to an event and I’d happily have all of these feature in my future wedding!

My absolute favourite? It has to be these mini s’mores kits! How insanely cute are these?!

Railway romance

There is something really romantic about train stations. Not all train stations of course, the modern ones just don’t fit with the romantic scenario I have in my head. But the old fashioned kind, those set in rural locations, where you can imagine a steam train trundling past and vintage-clad lovers running alongside trains waving their partner goodbye with a handkerchief… those kinds are romantic.

And old fashioned trains are romantic too, those with compartments where you could enjoy a sneaky snog with your love. Today they’d also be fantastic to get away from mobile phones and portable DVD players! I wish they brought those trains back, ever since watching the BBC’s adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (back in 1988) I’ve wanted to travel on one!

Obviously all this talk of trains is leading to something, and that something is a beautiful shoot sent to me by fantastic photographer Jennifer Peel. Jennifer loves vintage weddings and so decided to style this shoot around the 1940s, sourcing a beautiful vintage gown and dressing the groom in a military uniform. Bridgnorth Station was the perfect backdrop for the shoot , when I imagine romantic encounters taking place at train stations they look just like this…

Stunning! Jennifer is fairly new to the wedding industry so if you haven’t come across her work before do go and check out her blog as she has a lot of fantastic photography waiting to be discovered there!

Vintage films

I hope all you chocolate lovers got lots of chocolate eggs yesterday! And if you did why not grab some now, put your feet up and enjoy a couple of wedding films by the talented Mark W Brown.

Mark combines the use of a vintage Super 8mm camera and a HD camera to capture beautiful wedding videos that are actually a joy to watch. From what I’ve seen a lot of wedding films coming out of Britain are rather tacky and feature terrible tunes! Well not these ones. The vintage film camera has a soft, romantic appeal, the editing is perfect and the tunes are lovely…

I also love that weird little Fiat 600 in the last film!

Now head on over to Mark’s blog as there are many more amazing films to watch :)
