Crocheted love

I’ve recently discovered crochet. I say recently, I’ve actually made various attempts over the years but finally gave it a proper good go and completed an octopus last week! I have since bought lots of wool and intend to make a whole menagerie of cute crocheted animals. I’m loving looking through all the potential patterns over at Craftsy too!

With crochet firmly on the brain recently I loved these next hearts that I came across on Etsy and know they would look so adorable incorporated into your wedding…

Sweet centrepieces

I love the idea of crocheted hearts in bowls or just strewn across the table. You could even buy lots and have them surround you on the floor whilst you say your vows (I’m thinking non-church wedding here by the way); they’d look so cute on the photos! The hearts on sticks make a fab alternative to flowers as a centrepiece too…

Heart garlands

And to complement those hearts how about making crocheted heart garlands. You don’t have to do the crocheting bit just buy ready-crocheted ones, thread yarn through them and string them around your venue. Lovely!

Available from Viola’s Boutique

Of course if you’re handy with a crochet hook you can make these yourself. Here are a few tutorials that may take your fancy:

I attempted the itty bitty tutorial but as someone very new to the world of crochet, who’s just learnt how to sufficiently hold the wool to crochet, that magic ring is just way too complicated!

Debs just do what I showed you for the beginning of a granny square but use only 4 chain and make the circle, you don’t have to use a magic circle if you don’t want to, I’ll be having a go without it x

The magic ring intimidated me too, but there are a lot of video on you tube that explain it and make it easy. You should give it another shot. :)

Hi, i’m loving the stuffed hearts you have up top, and thinking straight of them as a wedding idea – but I don’t find the DIY how-to in the three links. How are they made?

I have a pattern for an afghan square to crochet. The design is very similar but larger I think. I designed it in 1996 I believe. Not long after I began crocheting. I have seen hundreds of afghans with the pattern now. Many are given as comfortghans. Jackie’s Heart Granny Square Crochet Pattern

With the lil’ stuffed hearts you can give them to family, friends. grands, whoever. They can be ‘pocket hearts’. The keep one on there pocket and when they put their hand in their pocket they will know you are thinking of them. Or when. They need you or for a lil’ comfort or luck.
