Janelle & Mark : Jenolan Caves, Australia

I’m definitely a fan of something different and so when the lovely, Australian-based, Gemma Clarke asked if I fancied sharing Janelle & Mark’s wedding in a cave I definitely did! Another inspirational idea for those of you wanting to do something unique for your wedding day!

This wedding was actually the second attempt of getting married for Janelle and Mark as that Icelandic Volcano eruption prevented their travel from the UK for their original wedding date in April. Although a very stressful experience, it just made the couple even more certain that they wanted to be married…

A huge hug!

Janelle & Mark also opted for a first-look before the wedding which resulted in the sweetest pictures that Gemma was on hand to capture…

Going underground

The caves in question were the Jenolan Caves in the beautiful Blue Mountains of New South Wales. And if you want exotic creatures in your wedding photos then it’s the place to be! Janelle & Mark’s day featured a parrot and a lizard!

I love the colourful lighting in the caves and the scenery outside is stunning.

Red reception

And then it was on to the reception with jars of rock for favours and odd little creatures (cows?) dressed as a bride and groom. Which I think are adorable! Have since been informed they are kangaroos… with it being Australia and them being upright I really should have guessed that!

Congratulations to Janelle & Mark on finally becoming husband and wife in a delightfully different setting. And thanks to Gemma for sharing :)

Where would you love to hold a destination wedding?

@elizacphoto A Wedding Teepee overlooking the sea on the North Coast of Cornwall – probably between St Agnes and St Ives somewhere. Bliss.

@TSugarBoutique I suppose it depends on how much you know of the area. I would like to get married in Dubai on the beach :)

@knotsandkisses If it was at all possible… at sunset at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Most magical place ever!

@stephanie_oakes Necker Island!

@Zankyou_UK Oooh, it has to be Sicily. Sooo romantic! Suuch great food!

@marianarortigao Portugal! Great weather, food, people and prices!!

@vickywilkin The One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai – beautiful pagoda next to the beach for a gorg ceremony + short flight to Maldives.

@gempics Mine would be the beach in Cyprus where Aphrodite’s Rock is – origin of the Goddess of Love!

@SaraJulietPhoto The top of the Scottish Highlands, or Canadian mountains… Sounds hectic, but I think it would be brilliant!! :)

@CaughttheLight We had our destination wedding in France & I love it for charm, but also love working on beaches & anywhere with blue skies.

@electrictweets If I had to do it again then def outdoors. Nature has a way of setting everyone at ease and is great for photos. A country would be Mauritius. Ideal and really romantic.

@Amy_Wass Destination wedding? I got married in Malcesine on Lake Garda Italy. Castle, lake, mountains, Italian food. Ideal location?

@wedatlochlomond LOCH LOMOND, find out more at my website or ask me :)

@tamrynkirby Somewhere where we can watch the Northern Lights :-)

@KatieValeDesign My friends got married at Isola del Garda in August. They were one of the first to. I did a blog about the wedding. I was totally blown away by the whole day & Italy.

@antoninam Not from experience, but ICEHOTEL (in Sweden I think) is an unusual one :)

@belleamour_uk If I was going for a wintery wonderland wedding I’d have to agree with @tamrynkirby as it is a dream of mine to one day witness the Northern Lights. If I wanted something a little warmer it would have to be the Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse. You can see how beautiful it is here and here and below…

Next week’s question: A favourite film you’re happy to share and a favourite film you’re embarrassed to say? (it’s not all about weddings!)

Email me or message me on Twitter if you’d like to answer and you’ll be featured here next week! Thanks! :)
