Sally & Michael : 18-09-10 : Yorkshire Dales

Today I have one beautiful wedding in store for you. Well, today and tomorrow really as I wanted to show you so many images the post was crazy big. So I’ve split it into two parts and you’l just have to come back tomorrow to see how this wonderful wedding turns out! A huge thanks to Rebecca Honeywell for providing me with the gorgeous images, Sally for giving me info about the day and to Sally’s mum for doing an extremely amazing job with all the details!

The meeting

Michael and I have been friends for quite a few years before we got together and originally met through my best friend Chris, who was one of our 2 best men on the day.

The proposal

The proposal was a COMPLETE surprise! We’d never even talked about getting married! Mike surprised me with a trip to the Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall for my 30th birthday; it was the week that the country ground to a halt due to snow and blizzards, our flight was cancelled and it took us 12 hours to get there but it was worth it! On our first morning there we went for a walk on the beach in the most horrendous weather and on our way back he got down on one knee and asked. I was totally gobsmacked!

The wedding

The main priority for us when planning the wedding was throwing a great party. We knew we wanted it to be very relaxed and personal and that the restrictions of a venue with a bar that shut at 1am would not suit our guests! So, when my Mum and Dad suggested having it at their house it was the perfect solution and the minute we saw the wonderful PapaKåtas it was a done deal!

I’m not really into the whole dressing up thing so the thing I was the most nervous about and the least interested in was me! I never dreamt I’d end up with ‘The Big Dress’ but the girls at The Bridal Boutique in Guiseley were amazing and really helped me find the dress that fitted the day, it was so easy to wear and light and I really did feel great in it. The incredible Lou Rothwell did my hair and makeup and even though we hadn’t practised and I was rubbish at explaining what I wanted (and wouldn’t sit still!) she got it just right and I was so glad I was professionally ‘done’.

As my bridesmaids came in various shapes and sizes I chose a colour and fabric then let them select the styles of their own dresses so they could have something that suited them and it worked really well. They all wore the same shoes and co-ordinated their jewellery to bring it all together.

The flowers and a lot of the styling were provided by the world’s greatest florist Wendy, and all the girls at The Hedgerow. We gave her very little to go on but somehow she knew exactly what we wanted and came up with loads of ideas like the flowers on the gates at the church and the alternatives to the usual pedestal designs in the church. The attention to detail from The Hedgerow was amazing and they really were the dream team.

I love that there are big grins all round! How it should be. I’ll see you tomorrow when I’ll be sharing images full of rustic charm and those amazing PapaKåta tents!
