I’m back! With the second instalment of Sally & Michael’s beautiful day. If you missed the first part click here to check it out. And then come back to this post. Nice to do things in order. On with the wedding…
Rustic & relaxed
Given the wedding was to be surrounded by fields in the Yorkshire Dales we went for a country look; we wanted everything to be quite rustic and ‘un-done’. To be honest, we didn’t set out with a fixed plan as to how it would all end up, it just sort of evolved thanks to the input and ideas of a lot of friends and all pulled together by my Mum: wedding stylist extraordinaire!
The bunting was my Mum’s idea and she and a friend made all of it (over 300 metres!). I was absolutely thrilled with how it looked and I really think it was the biggest wow factor inside the tents. The gnome candles, jam jar candles and napkins tied in ribbon were all my Mum’s ideas and we made our own orders of service and menus to match the style of the invitations which we also made ourselves.
We borrowed crockery and cutlery from all over the place which gave everything an old fashioned, mismatched look and the caterers, Relish, created the perfect relaxed menu of our favourite foods: a really delicious soup to start with, sausage and mash followed by profiteroles and a hog roast in the evening. We had an M&S wedding cake but the big hit were the 100 cupcakes made and beautifully decorated by my friend Sarah as our wedding gift. We displayed these on old fashioned cake stands and they looked fab.
And of course there was the entertainment; some friends created a play list for us which we had on earlier in the evening and then our band, Rattlefish, played a cracking set of our favourite songs and were brilliant fun: the perfect band!
How amazing?! I love the rustic cosiness of the PapaKåta tents. They look so beautiful filled with bunting, wooden benches and fairy lights. And who would have thought garden gnomes would work so well in a wedding?!
