The lovely Emmie, who writes the British blog Little Miss Wedding, kindly wrote about me last week! Emmie launched Little Miss Wedding just over a year ago and so loads of amazing inspiration, ideas and advice for British brides can be found there.
Along with asking me why I started Belle Amour and my plans for Belle Bébés Emmie also quizzed me on my ideal wedding. It was a great question to answer so I thought it’d make it into a whole post and let you know a little more about me through my choices…
The dream venue
I really want an outdoor wedding. I was practically brought up in a tent or caravan, with the amount of camping holidays we went on, and (to my surprise as I remember moaning as a kid) it’s rubbed off on me. I now love camping and cooking outdoors! I also love the water so near a lakeside or on a beach would be perfect. If not by the water, a woodland wedding would also suit me fine.
If I marry in the UK there’s always the risk of rainy weather so the PapaKåta tents would be perfect to fit in with the theme and offer shelter if it pours!

The dream dress
Rather pathetically I’ve had a particular dress in mind since I saw an actress wearing it in a OK magazine four years ago! I even have the magazine in a box so I don’t forget! Just in case I can afford this particular dress one day I think it’s best not to mention it! But since researching for this blog I have also fallen in love with Joan Shum’s dresses (particularly the first one shown). I think the only way I’ll end up in a fuller gown is if it’s a tulle skirt. I love tulle! Otherwise it’s more likely to be something slim-line and more practical for an outside do, such as this dress. And due to the setting of the wedding I’d quite like to be barefoot most of the time.

The dream bridesmaids
I’m not sure what kind of colour scheme I’d go for. I do love neutral colours though so it may even be grey or a nature-inspired colour such as a shade of green. And for bridesmaids I’m always a fan of pick the colour and let them pick the dress or have them in varying shades of a chosen colour. A print would be interesting too.

The dream meal
I haven’t thought too much about the actual getting married part (apart from the fact I know I’ll cry!) but the bit after…
Food: individual picnic hampers, similar to these but a little larger. Or mini suitcases I’d love making personalised stickers for all the jars and packets that would be found inside. I just think it would be so exciting opening it up and discovering what you have. Like when you have a plane meal. I love finding all the little parts that make up the meal!
The dream tables
Instead of tables there would be blankets and cushions for guests to relax on. If I decided to still have some sort of table plan then it would be this one. The prettiest escort card idea I’ve ever seen! I’d also put them on a vintage desk as I love the look of furniture outside.
The dream entertainment & lighting
By sunset I’d like a mini-festival going on with a small stage set up for live music. There would be lights everywhere: candles, fairy lights, paper lanterns… I’d put a lot of thought into the ambient lighting to make sure it all looked so romantic!
Fires for warmth and more atmospheric lighting would be great. And then, if it’s an open setting such as a beach, the guests would all release sky lanterns.

The dream accommodation
A barbecue would be provided later when everybody’s had a bit to drink and are in need of some supper. Then they’ll stagger off to their tents. And I’d be perfectly happy sleeping in a tent too with the new husband. I’d probably buy a special one for the occasion though. And fill it with fairy lights!

Lovely links
Here’s links to inspiring ideas for my dream wedding:
- Lovely summer picnic inspiration board.
- Big fan of all the blankets and balloons in the first image and all the blankets laid out on the lawn in the last image.
- Orlando wedding with make-your-own picnic hampers.
- Awesome stationery and signs and a cute caravan. Amazing!
- Adore the use of proper tin camping dinnerware and make your own smore favours!
Endless ideas
So there you have it. My kind of wedding! Anybody else dreamt about how they want theirs to be?! Feel free to let me know! I love hearing about people’s dream weddings!
And the reason for the ‘so far’ bit in the title? This is only what I imagine right now. But, with writing this blog, every day I’m finding things that I love and have never thought of before. This blog is either going to make it much easier to plan my wedding as I’ll have found everything I want. Or so hard as there’s so many amazing ideas out there! We’ll see…
Debs

I had my whole wedding ‘planned’ in my head pre-engagement. Now I am actually getting married, I cant make my mind up on anything! x
I imagine mine will change when it actually comes to it, as it’s not like I’ve considered the practical bits such as budget… just the fun stuff :) Plus I suppose I’d have to give the husband to be a say…
this was so fun to read through! i want fairy lights just like you describe…and paper lanterns hanging off the ceilings of the tent…
Thanks Michelle! Glad you enjoyed it : )
