…is the man responsible for my immense love of beautiful wedding photography. He’s not solely responsible anymore. Since seeing his work I have come across countless amazing photographers. But his work launched this passion of mine and for that fact I thought his work should be right here in the launch of this blog of mine.
Fine art
His style is described as Fine Art Photography and it is just that. All his images are works of art and when I get married that is what I’d look for when choosing a photographer. I’m really not the type that could bear seeing a big grinning image of me on a wall. But I am the type that would want to have a constant reminder of one of the best days of my life (I know I haven’t had it yet but everybody says it is so I’m just going to assume!) I’d be more than happy to have photos such as these on display:
I love the soft lighting in his images. I love the dreamy quality. I’d really love to live in a world that looks like this (Northern England does not look like this: it has the scenery but it rarely has the sunlight). They’re the type of images that on a good day made me get myself a ‘proper’ camera (or DSLR) and on bad days I think I may as well give up as there is no chance I could ever match the gorgeous in these images (but I won’t, I know it’s all about finding your own style and so on…)
Film photography
The main reason he stands out, apart from the obvious skills he’s acquired, is the fact that he shoots film. I’m an extremely amateur photographer but when buying an SLR I didn’t even contemplate film. The main reason being travels to Australia on my gap year 8 years ago with a new point and shoot film camera. Not being able to afford to get the rolls processed whilst travelling. Several months passing before I decided to get some processed. Only then discovering there was a fault with the camera resulting in badly blurred images! After that the ability to view the photo immediately after taking it was way too good to pass up on.
But I think, one day, if I have a bit more spending money and when I have a better understanding of photography digitally I would like to buy a ‘proper’ film camera.
In the meantime I have my eye on a slightly cheaper foray into film: the toy camera. Jose has taken some awesome images using a Holga and I want to too!
Jose is no secret, he’s been featured countless times on websites, blogs and in magazines but as someone I greatly admire I wanted to show off his work on my blog too. So if by some slim chance you haven’t seen these beautiful wedding images before I hope you enjoy viewing them here (and then go check out lots more on his blog):
