Flowers are one of the key elements to a wedding. You spend hundreds on them and then they just go and die on you! If you want to break from tradition, then not having fresh flowers at your wedding may just be the way to do it. Milkpod Studio is a fab Etsy find that offers bouquets made from various collected fabrics. Not only will they look great on the day but they’ll stay looking that way for years to come!
A spot of DIY
Wendy set up shop after being unable to find flowers that suited the look she was trying to achieve for her own wedding. A farm girl at heart she wanted something that had a rustic charm and would put a unique stamp on her day. As no florist could create the texture and colour she was after she went ahead and made her own!
The result was a gorgeous bouquet of silks, linens, cottons, wool and upholstery fabrics, layered to form flowers and held together with wooden beads. Wendy realised that other women may want this something different for their wedding day and the business was born.
Milkpod makes
Milkpod Studio also offers boutonnieres, hairpieces, corsages and garlands so you can kit out your groomsmen and bridesmaids and even decorate your venue!

All just so pretty. You’d definitely make a statement carrying a bunch of these blooms down the aisle! And I’m especially taken with the adorable hairpieces. I think the country look to these flowers make them perfect for a garden wedding or a country barn. But they are such a contemporary change to fresh flowers I think they would also look striking in a stylish urban setting.
Custom blooms
And you don’t have to let the ideas stop at what’s on offer in Wendy’s shop either. She can create custom pieces in any colours. You could perhaps get flowers made up for an iced cake or a centrepiece. Even those who believe their budget may not stretch are invited to email Wendy as she may be able to come up with an affordable package for you.
Wendy has assured me that all Milkpod pieces can be shipped to the UK, so there’s nothing to stop Brits picking this truly unique option for their day. And what if you love these but aren’t getting married? Well I say get a bouquet anyway and pop it in a vase in your home. Personally, the best flowers for me are the ones that you don’t need to remember to water!
